Mary Lea, LPC, LMHC
Therapist, Mother, Coach, Your Biggest Advocate.
I am a Licensed Counselor in both Tennessee and Washington states. I see clients in-person in Nashville, TN or online anywhere in TN or WA.
I walk alongside of women as they journey through difficult life circumstances or as they get curious about their inner lives and relationships. I hope that through these pages you can get a sense of who I am and the kind of work we could do together.
My path to this career has not been linear but has come as a result of my own healing. What I offer to my clients not only comes from my education but from my own experiences in life that left me shattered and in survival mode. I know the courage it takes to tell your story and let someone into places where you have been alone.
I see clients with a variety of needs and I am particularly attuned to and trained in recognizing and addressing relational patterns, sex issues, and abuse in all forms. You can read more on this site about how I work with clients and specific issues I commonly address.
I support women in reconnecting with their inner voice and building a life that feels honest, alive, and deeply their own.
I am here to help you find clarity. Together we can peel back the layers of what is going on for you…what keeps you in tears or awake in the middle of the night. I will create a space for you to lay it all out and we can sort through it together. We can figure out what it is you want to change and what has been getting in the way, keeping you stuck.
I work with capable, compassionate women who are great at showing up for others but not always for themselves. You don’t have to be falling apart to start therapy—wanting something to feel different is a good enough reason.
The women that I work with are often:
Disconnected from their bodies, emotions, or sense of direction
Afraid of disappointing others, yet quietly resentful
Unsure how to identify their own needs or desires
Caught between longing for change and fear of what choosing themselves might cost
In the midst of a life transition—divorce, motherhood shifts, burnout, loss, or a quiet internal awakening.
I am deeply committed to providing a space where any feeling is welcome even the ones we think are bad or that we shouldn’t be feeling. There is also lots of curiosity and respect for your pace.
I am here for real talk and honesty so that’s what you’ll get from me. I have a warmth about me, so it won’t be harsh or judgmental. I’m not here to fix or give opinions, but to reflect back to you what I’m seeing and hearing—and then we can explore where you’d like to go with it.
What is it like to work with me?
I earned a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from Belmont University in Nashville, TN and a Masters of Art in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology in Seattle, WA.
In addition to being a therapist, I am also a musician. I often play, sing, and write songs to connect with myself and clarify my thoughts and feelings. I enjoy helping clients to explore creative ways to express what’s inside and begin to heal.
I am a mom to 3 lovely children. I enjoy being near water, mountains, or anywhere scenic and beautiful.
